A Great Dane for Every Home: Introducing Our British Countryside Print Collection

There is something unmistakably elegant about a Great Dane.

Their height and strength may be what people notice first, but anyone who has lived with one knows that their real character lies in the contrast: impressive yet gentle, dignified yet wonderfully silly, and almost always convinced that they are small enough to sit on your lap.

Our Great Dane in the British Countryside print collection was created to capture that quieter, more timeless side of the breed.

Each portrait places a Great Dane against a softly painted rural landscape, inspired by traditional British sporting art and the atmospheric countryside paintings often found in old country houses. The result is a collection that feels familiar and characterful without becoming overly formal.

Celebrating the recognised colours of the Great Dane

The collection brings together Great Danes in a variety of colours, including:

Displayed individually, each print celebrates the distinctive character and markings of that particular Dane. Hung together, the portraits create a striking gallery wall that shows just how wonderfully varied the breed can be.

For owners, it offers the chance to choose a portrait that resembles their own dog. For lifelong Great Dane admirers, it is a way to celebrate the breed as a whole.

Inspired by traditional British interiors

We wanted these prints to feel at home in the sort of rooms where dogs genuinely form part of daily life.

Think boot rooms filled with muddy wellingtons, coats hanging by the back door, old wooden hallway tables, baskets of leads and a Great Dane quietly blocking the doorway.

The muted countryside colours work particularly well with natural wood, warm neutrals, heritage greens, stone floors and traditional country-house furniture. They also sit comfortably in more contemporary homes, where the artwork can add warmth and a sense of history to a simpler interior.

Rather than looking like typical pet-themed decoration, the prints have the feel of collected country artwork.

Creating a Great Dane gallery wall

Although each portrait works beautifully alone, the collection was designed to look especially effective when displayed in groups.

A pair of prints can sit neatly above a bench, sideboard or console table. Three can form a simple row in a hallway, while a larger arrangement creates a characterful gallery wall in a boot room, study or sitting room.

For a more relaxed country-house look, the framed prints can also be placed along a high picture shelf rather than hung individually. Mixing several Great Dane colours gives the display the appearance of a collection gathered over time.

The largest print size is 16 × 12 inches, making the artwork substantial enough to be noticed while still being easy to group without overwhelming the room.

Artwork for homes where dogs belong

This collection is particularly close to our hearts because it brings together the two things at the centre of The Developer & The Dane: homes and dogs.

We believe dog-inspired interiors can still feel elegant, thoughtful and grown-up. They do not need to rely on slogans or novelty designs. Sometimes a beautifully composed portrait is enough to reflect the animals who share our homes and shape so much of our everyday lives.

Whether chosen to resemble a much-loved Great Dane, given as a thoughtful gift, or displayed as a complete collection, these prints are designed for homes where dogs are not merely pets.

They are part of the family, part of the furniture and very often the largest personality in the room.
